Natalie Smith's academy art portfolio

My grounds included a message of western beauty vs. national beauty standards. Which compared natural women and the 'perfect' euro-centric woman in the media of magazine cut outs. The background was a forest scene cut into triangles and rearranged.

This is an unrelated watercolor piece I did but, when expeirementing with watercolor we used 4 different kinds. My favorite kind is still personal cakes. My piece was mostly swatched of colors compared in the different forms of watercolor

This is my portfolio cover done in watercolor. I used watercolor because its my favorite medium and conveys my art style in a way i like. The composition includes planets,plants, and clouds because those are subjects that i draw often

This assignment included us mapping out color theory with watercolors. This had a color wheel,different color schemes, and different terms to be defined that related to color theory

 Here is a gouache piece I did in my watercolor sketchbook.

I used acrylic paint on canvas for this piece. Impasto is thick application of thick paint. This was my first attempt,though it was unsuccessful in the view of impasto,I still like the way it turned out.

In this assignment I used tempura paint on  mix-media paper to create a clouded nature scene. The piece consists of thick layers and pronounced textures. The composition includes grayish white clouds, a gradient of royal blue to soft blue sky, and scattered stars.
